Skynamo joins Acumatica in protecting customers’ data

The Field Sales app helps create a more secure Acumatica partner ecosystem by joining Acumatica in achieving the global benchmark in data security – ISO 27001:2013 certification – to protect its customers’ business data.

PRESS RELEASE: 6 August 2019

Skynamo, the field sales app for Acumatica, today announced that it has joined Acumatica in protecting customers’ data by achieving ISO 27001:2013 certification, the internationally recognised standard for global best practice in information security management.

Skynamo has joined Acumatica as one of the few tech companies worldwide to have achieved ISO 27001:2013 certification. As an Acumatica Certified Application and Customer Validated Application, Skynamo now extends the same world-class level of data security provided by Acumatica to users of its field sales app.

“A data breach can increase the risk of litigation for customers, damage their business reputation, and impact their revenue should their data ever fall into the wrong hands, as seen by the hefty fine imposed on British Airways last month for last year’s data breach,” says Skynamo CEO Sam Clarke. “As an Acumatica ISV partner, we want to ensure we’ve done all we can to protect the data entrusted to us by Acumatica users of our field sales app.”

“With data breaches on the rise, we’re glad to see Acumatica integrated solutions like the Skynamo Field Sales app joining us in doing all we can to limit the risk of customers’ data ever falling into the wrong hands,” says Christian Lindberg, Vice President of Partner Solutions at Acumatica. “We encourage all partners to stay current on their certifications, so that together we can make the Acumatica ecosystem one of the most secure in the market.”

As such, Acumatica and Skynamo are among the relatively few technology providers worldwide that are ISO 27001 certified.

As of 31 December 2017, according to The ISO Survey, only 7,478 companies in the IT sector worldwide were ISO 27001 certified and only 69 companies across all sectors in South Africa were ISO 27001 certified.

“The relatively low number of ISO 27001 certified companies worldwide is alarming. At a time when data is falling into the wrong hands more frequently and the consequences are more severe than ever before, we want to encourage all Acumatica’s ISV partners to join us in helping to create the most secure ecosystem of integrated solutions as possible by getting their ISO 27001 certification,” concludes Clarke.

An ISO 27001 certification confirms that the highest internationally recognised security standards, agreed upon and set by members from 164 countries and 783 technical committees and subcommittees, are met. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an independent, international organisation based in Geneva, Switzerland, that develops the global standards for security and safety, among others. Certification confirms that a company has the systems, the policies and the procedures in place to protect users’ data.
